Annual refresher training to miners and contractors as part of the Mine Safety and Health Program, administered by the MA Dept. of Labor Standards (DLS) in cooperation with the U.S. Dept. of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration to help prevent injuries and illnesses.
Workers must go through an initial and annual refresher training of all mining employees (30 CFR, Part 46).
Under 30 CFR Part 56, safety and health standards must be in place for all surface metal/non-metal mines throughout the nation. Workers must go through an initial and annual refresher training of all mining employees (30 CFR, Part 46). These requirements apply to the approximately 150 mining operations in Massachusetts. They also apply to their contractors, such as electricians, drillers, and blasters. The mining operations include sand and gravel pits, crushed operations, and quarries.
Please note MA DLS’s foul weather policy: Please check Mass.gov/dols for possible cancellations. As a general rule, when training is at a school if the facility cancels classes the MSHA class will also be cancelled. If classes at the school are delayed until 10am the MSHA class will take place. If there is a delay past 10am the MSHA class will be cancelled.
In the event of weather-related cancellations, GCC’s college closure information is available on GCC’s home page and on our hotline at 413-775-1010.
Separate registration is required.
