Join us for a hike along Dunbar Brook, deep in the wilderness of the Monroe State Forest. This moderate trail follows the brook with crystal clear water and countless small waterfalls.
We’ll stop for lunch at a trail shelter where we can briefly leave the trail to see some larger waterfalls as they cascade between steep and deeply forested hillsides. Be sure to bring a small backpack with lunch and something to drink.
If the water is low enough for us to find a safe crossing, we can even bushwhack a short distance to visit the largest White Pine tree in Massachusetts! Our round trip hike will be about 2.5 miles, allowing plenty of time for exploring, taking pictures, and looking for animal tracks and sign. Transportation is not provided.
